Free Netflix? Here’s How

If Netflix’s monthly cost has been holding you back, here are hacks to help you overcome that obstacle by getting it for free.

Streaming movies and TV shows via Netflix is a great way to cut the cord so you can minimize your monthly expenses. Just add a low-cost HD antenna to your TV for free local channels, and you can eliminate your cable bill.

Even though Netflix (depending on the plan) can only end up costing around $15 per month, this still may be too much for your budget.

Here are ways to greatly reduce that subscription fee or make it 100 percent free.

Make the Most out of Free Trials

If you’ve never had a Netflix subscription before, you can get a free trial for a month to see what all the hype is about. As long as you cancel before that month is over, your credit card won’t be charged.

What happens if you never get a paid subscription? To gain you as a customer, Netflix will usually send out an offer email a few months later.

What will this email have? You guessed it – another free trial offer.

Depending on how many people are in your home, you could use this free trial hack to get several months of Netflix for free. You will need different credit cards, however.

You can get around this if any issues arise by either getting a virtual credit card number from your company or by buying Visa gift cards.

Share With Someone Else

Since Netflix is so popular, there’s a good chance that a friend or a family member has an account. If they have the plan that lets them watch on four screens simultaneously, you can be one of those viewers for free.

Don’t request the Netflix ID and password from somebody you barely know. They probably won’t give it to you and may even scoff in the process. Instead, get it from a person who you’ve known for a long time and trusts you enough to hand over this information.

To avoid filling their account with shows and movies they don’t like, make a separate profile that can hold your preferences. As long as you use it and not anybody else’s different households can share that account without worry.

Do a Group Buy

Similar to that first hack, you can do a group buy with other people to share the cost of a Netflix account.

Since it rounds out to around $15 a month, you can easily split that amongst four people to get tons of entertainment for a little over 10 cents per day.

If nobody you know is willing to go in on this group buy, you may want to head over to eBay to try something similar.

Some people sell Netflix accounts on eBay on the cheap. How do they do it? By signing up for free trials over and over again and reselling them via the site.

To ensure you get a trustworthy account, make sure the seller has been selling for over a year, and has positive feedback.

As for what type of savings you can snag, some sellers offer 12-month premium subscriptions for as little as $30.
